Willie Raymond Alford, Sr., 85, of Finksburg, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 5, 2015 at University of Maryland Medical Center.

Born September 12th, 1929 in Tunneltown, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Dayton Alford and Edith Alford Lilly. He was married to Catherine Marie Alford, his wife of 64 years.

In addition to his parents, Willie was pre-deceased by his infant brother Charles, his daughter, Deborah Ann Alford, and his step-father Whitley Lilly.

Willie retired from the American Can Co. where he worked for 37 years and was co-owner of Alford Homes, Inc. where he worked for 10 years. Willie was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed gardening, woodworking and loved NASCAR. He also volunteered his time at the Hap Baker Firearms Facility.

In addition to his wife, Willie is survived by his seven children: Catherine E. Clagett and her husband John; Sandra Lee Rill; Geralyn Schmidt and her husband Joseph; Willie R. Alford, Jr. and his wife Darlene; Dayton Alford and his wife MaryKay; J. Stuart Alford and his wife Marcia; Brian K. Alford and his wife Lisa; his sister Mary Helen Sherman; his 22 grandchildren, Catherine E. Klein and her husband Scott, Megan Harris and her husband Bryan, Adam Clagett and his wife Nicole, Caitlyn, Travis and Molly Rill, Joseph Schmidt, Jr., Joshua Schmidt and his wife Vanessa, Julia Kling and her husband Brandon, Jessica Posey and her husband Joshua, Jonathan Alford and his wife Angie, Lindsay Thompson and her husband Matthew, Justin Alford, Lauren Alford, Colleen, Jason and Matthew Alford, Bethany Thomas and her husband Christopher, Zachary Alford and his wife Lauren, Nathan Alford and his wife Lauryn, Alexander C. Alford, and Alex Alford; His 15 great grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Jackson Clagett, Barrett and Abram Schmidt, Bentley, Paxton and Parker Kling, Lauren Howard and Gunner Posey, Michael and Jared Alford, Lillian Alford, Graham and Everett Thompson, Christopher, Jr. and Jacob Thomas.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 am at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens....
