Virginia Mae Boten
December 20, 1920 - February 14, 2012

Virginia Mae Boten, 91 of Nevada died on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the Story County Medical Center in Nevada. Her body has been cremated and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Virginia was born on December 20, 1920 in Nevada to Goldmer and Jessie (Roe) Hankins. She was a 1939 graduate of Nevada High School. On July 4, 1940, Virginia was united in marriage to Kenneth Brouhard. To this union, three daughters were born, Dinelda (Denni), Pagene, and Ragene. She had worked at the Story County Welfare Office, R. H. Donnelley Corp., and REC-Chek, Inc., all in Nevada along with Vega Aircraft Corp. in Burbank, CA. On September 2, 1972, Virginia married Wayne Lester Boten, Sr. at the home of her nephew, Barry Wilkening. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Virginia loved spending time with her family and her dog, Buttons.

Virginia is survived by her three daughters, Dinelda (Denni) Brouhard and Pagene (Prescott) Crawford, both of Nevada and Ragene Van Vleet of West Des Moines; a step-daughter Donna Karns of Great Falls, Montana; seven grandchildren; eight step- grandchildren; and six + one on the way great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Vivian Wilkening of Nevada along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne Boten Sr. on April 13, 2005, three brothers, Donald, Glen, and Goldmer Hankins Jr., one sister Evelyn Hankins Cook; 2 step-sons, Wayne Boten, Jr. and William (Bill) Boten.
Virginia had a beautiful singing voice and sang semi-professionally for most of her adult life, gracing many local weddings and funerals with her voice.
