Alexander Andrews was born 10 Aug 1844/45 in Somersetshire, England and came to the United States with his parents, Richard & Anna (Moon) Andrews when he was three years old.
The family came to Plymouth, Wis. and there Alexander spent his childhood.
He fought in the Civil War enlisting in Co I of 30th Wisconsin Infantry. from 3 Dec 1863 to 20 Sep 1865. 30th Regiment, Wisconsin Infantry Organized at Camp Randall, Madison, Wis., and mustered in October 21, 1862.
He is also listed on the 1890 Special Veterans Census for Thorp, Clark Co, Wis.
In 1879 he married Anna Marie Hertel b 25 Oct 1859.
Alexander Andrews died at his home in Thorp, Wis. on 22 Mar 1923.
Funeral services were held at the residence with the American Legion in charge and Rev F.G. Elwick, pastor of the local Community Church delivering the Memorial sermon and music provided by the choir.
