I transcribed Anthony's wonderful memoir ~ added photos and some information from the internet. Did a re-edit in February 2021 adding a larger font. I have 14 word document files, if anyone is interested in reading the entire memoir.

From Anthony's 1979 Memoir "My Eternal Formative Years":

I was born in Little Neck, Long Island, New York, on August 19, 1906, in the year of the great San Francisco earthquake. Teddy Roosevelt was President; the Panama Canal was being built' Henry ford was developing his Model - T, to be marketed in 1908. The Wright Brothers had just learned to control the tail spin. There were 82,000,000 people in the United States; Edward VII was King of England. Sears was offering refrigerators for $6.00, and a real jazzy number holding 540 pounds of ice cost $53.90. Men's suits, two pants and vest, for $5.50; little boy's wash suits cost 35 cents and a complete sailor outfit for 75 cents. Telephones and electric lights were a novelty. Most plumbing and water supply was outdoors. in suburban areas. The first Federal Food and Drug Act was enacted.

This is some of the world and America I was born into, and as of today, when I look back, beginning with my earliest recollections, it is amazing and almost unbelievable to conceive of so much progress in one short life-span.

(My father in law could build anything. When the family moved from New York to California, he acted as contractor for their new Pt. Loma, San Diego CA, family home. Below is a list of his education and work experience)

(Sadly, in June 1970, Marion passed away after a valiant fight against breast cancer. Below is Anthony's beautiful poem dedicated to beautiful Marion)

Time goes by! Time stands still!
"About our lovely Marion"

I remember:
I'm grateful for the joys that were;
Once upon a time.
I'm saddened by tears that blur
Sweet memories of mine.
I've known a life with beauty blessed.
To keep my heart sublime.

To all who knew her;
You've seen this flower glow and grow
Upon a graceful vine.
You've contributed the pigments
For forming the design.
You'll always share this dream with me
As petals gently fold;
You'll recall we shared the making of
These memories of Gold.

Finale;
We've known our lovely Marion;
Some more or less than I.
We've pressed her in our book of life
Until the day we die.

( April 1975 Poem ~ My Father in Law was always busy. Building, writing, reading, traveling etc. I don't recall him ever just sitting in front of the TV doing nothing.)

"AN ENDOWMENT IN RESOLVE"

I'm thinking lately about some folks
Who delight in lounging in bed.
And I'm a one to fret about
Missing out on life's sights instead.

I thought I'd obey an urge to bard
In word-painting various hues.
But if you lean toward rebuttal;
Please don't hesitate with your views.

For instance- to wake in the morning;
In fact, it's a happy surprise-
To swing out my legs and hit the deck;
Delighted I'm able to rise.

And it's nice to grab that first coffee
With a smoke; for I'm bent that way-
To look out the window-seeing the world
Beginning another new day.

It's pleasant to hop in the shower
And feel the smart spray on my skin,
Then lather and wield the old razor-
Winding up with nicks on y chin.

But of course, if you are a female,
You don't have that arduous chore.
Allthough, you'll be possibly busy
Applying cosmetics galore.

Now that may not be gracious phrasing,
But it handily rhymed with "chore".
To modify; I submit, my dears,
To allow what you do, I adore.

Pardon me while I put on my clothes,
To get ready to be on my way-
To work, start a trip, or just shop-
Or any event of the day.

An Endowment in Resolve
So off I go on a fresh new start,
Progressing the best I may-
Doing my part to cope with the scene;
Tolerant to "Have a nice day!"

"Have a nice day", seems a static remark,
If not said in a tone sincere.
Like all such quotes, it is lofting-
Prevailing in intent to cheer.

It's lofting too, I am thinking,
If I am inclined to be nice
To someone who does me a service-
Perhaps, at their own sacrifice.

Heeding regard and being thoughtful,
In my contacts during the day
Is requisite for contentment-
When the sun parts with its last ray.

It's gratification to my soul
To also count my blessings
Of family folk, and friends to cherish
And think of in mindful regressings.

I pray God gives me another day
To enjoy this world He made-
To be with benevolence inclined;
Understanding, faithful and staid.

I'll not expect I'll know every day
To be a performance in virtue.
But there has been designed a phrase;
Quote: "This too will pass". How true!
