Mrs. Edith Ballinger Abney, age 93, passed away peacefully at her home on January 30, 2014. She was born in Dayton, OH on August 18, 1920 to the late Dewey and Virgie McCracken Ballinger. She was known for her cooking and gardening skills, love of animals and was devoted to her family. She was a member of the Roundstone Baptist Church.
Mrs. Abney is survived by her children: Alberta Abney Evans, Carolyn Abney Deatherage (Garr) and Paul D. Abney (Ann); her grandchildren: Jill Evans Fudge (Eric), Matthew Evans (Krissy), Paul Stewart Abney (Ashley), David Tanner Abney, Benjamin Martin Abney and John Cole Abney; her great grandchildren: Haley Evans, Dillon Fudge, Ayden and Lincoln Barton and Eleanor and Lawson Abney and one sister: Phyllis Shepherd and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents: Dewey and Virgie McCracken Ballinger, she was preceded in death by her husband: Bronco John Abney; her granddaughter: Stacie Deatherage Barton and her son-in-law: John Evans; four brothers: George, Edward, Raymond and Donald Ballinger and three sisters: Etta Ann Mullins, Lucille Kirby and Cleda Shepherd
