EMALEAN C. SOWARDS, 95, of Ona, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, W.Va., by Rev. Ray Sovine. Burial will be in Culloden Cemetery. She was born July 20, 1915, in Putnam County, a daughter of the late Walter Beckett and Garnet Sargent Beckett Dean. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Sowards and two sons, Warner and Herschel Lee Sowards. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Aaron Chapman and Donna and Dennis Bowen, all of Ona; four grandchildren, Aaron and Charlotte Chapman, Troy and Tedda Chapman, Walter Lloyd Mayes and Debbie Young; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Chapman, Joshua, Jacob, Zachary and Elijah Chapman. The family would also like to especially thank a special friend, Betty Stewart. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton.
