August Bockelman was born in Germany to Heinrich(1849-1915) and Maria Schnelle (1846-1931) Bockelman and married Elizabeth Marie Buck, on January 23, 1904,in Emmanuel United Church of Christ, in Peotone, they had four children: Amelia(1904-1921),Fred(1906-1982),Edward(1909-1924),William (1912-1949). He was a farmer and a laborer. He died from injuries he received while working at a job at Clark and Lake, in Chicago. He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ.
