Doris Jean Barth

Age 78, passed away Aug. 9, 2006 in Puyallup, WA. She was born Feb. 20, 1928 in Lander, WY to William Casto and Hazel May Walters Casto Phillips. She was the owner of Barth Valley Pool Supply in Puyallup. She enjoyed working in her garden, meeting up with friends from the Red Hat Society, her Puyallup High School Class of 1947, and the Thursday Morning Bowling League at Daffodil Bowl. She was the recording secretary and life member with the N.W. Showman's Club, a National Pool and Spa Council member, the third runner up in Mrs. Tacoma Homebuilders in 1955, owner of the Valley Lunch Café in Puyallup for 12 years, and a charter member of Edgewood Firettes. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Reva Bond. She is survived by her husband, Edward L. Barth Sr. of Puyallup, children: Edward L. Barth Jr. (Nancy), of Port Orchard, Cheryl M. Sholseth (James) of Graham, W. James Barth (Leita) of Bonney Lake, and Kathy J. Barth of Brinnon; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother William Casto of Edgewood, and sisters Patricia Ladwig of Shelton and Joy Hicks of New Hampshire. Visitation will be at Powers Funeral Home, Aug. 15th and 16th, 9 am-8 pm. Funeral service will be Thurs., Aug. 17, 2006 at 12pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 720 E. Main Ave. in Puyallup with a reception to follow. Many thanks for the exceptional medical care and support from Doctors Frank Senecal and Catherine Richardson. Doris had survived for 10 years with multiple myleoma and passed away of heart failure from complications of type II Diabetes.
