Mrs. Barnes was a Kemper County native, having lived in Macon. She lived in Jackson 56 years and was the widow of Douglas J. Barnes Sr.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and knitting.
Survivors include: sons, Jerry Barnes of Ridgeland, Larry A. Barnes of Bovina, Ronald K. Barnes of Brandon and Douglas J. Barnes Jr., of Palmyra, Tenn.; brothers, George Denton of Columbus, C.S. Denton of Macon, James Denton of Meridian and Huston Denton of Florida; sisters, Dorothy Griffin of Louisville and Edna King of Los Angeles; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
