Juanita Fain Akers, 92 of Bluefield, VA passed away on February 11, 2017 at Tazewell Community Hospital. She had been a resident at Heritage Hall in Tazewell, VA for the past several years. She was retired from Aramark Services in Bluefield, VA.
She was born on June 10, 1924 in Oakvale, WV. She was the daughter of Robert and Mary Fain. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Ray, Glen and half-brother Emmett Clark. Sisters Thelma Garten and husband Wilton, Jean, and half-sister Dorothy Clifton of Roanoke, VA, and son-in-law James (Jimmy) Thompson.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Harry (Pete) Akers of Bluefield, VA. Sons Larry Akers of Bluefield, WV and Gary (Kim) Akers of Conway, SC. Daughters Linda Thompson of Bluefield, VA, Carlena (Richard) Vogel of N. Tazewell, VA, and Melissa Belcher of Smyrna, GA. Six grandchildren Hilaree (Todd) Wilkinson of Mooresville, NC, Stacey (Scott) Mulkey of Roanoke, VA, Kelly Janutolo of Richlands, VA, Richie (Rachel) Vogel of Pulaski, VA, Chris (Jill) Vogel of Tazewell, VA, Neil Akers of Conway, SC and 19 great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Juanita’s life will be Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Reverend Steve Aker officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
