She was born in Centralia June 18, 1925, a daughter of the late Anthony and Florence Gaughan.
Elizabeth graduated from Hubert Eicher High School in 1943.
On Sept. 11, 1948, in St. Ignatius church in Centralia, she was married by the Rev. Patrick J. Phelan to Robert Bierowski, who has been her devoted husband for 67 years.
Elizabeth, known to her friends and loved ones as "Betty," was a homemaker who loved to bake and share her cakes and pies with friends.
She was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and was involved in both the choir and Legion of Mary until she moved to Elysburg in 1989. At Queen of Most Holy Rosary Church, Elizabeth was a Eucharistic Minister, choir member and daily communicant. You could often hear her beautiful voice coming from the church pews during Mass.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Robert; three children, Judith Smith and her husband, Flannigan, of Madison, Connecticut, with whom she resided; Robert Bierowski and his wife, Margaret, of Danville, and Thomas Bierowski, of Stony Run. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Meghan Bavely and her husband, Paul, Flannigan, Ryan and Brandon Smith and Ethan Bierowski, as well as two great-grandchildren, Marie and Makayla Bavely, who all loved their "Mom-Mom" immensely!
Viewing was held at Queen of Most Holy Rosary Church, 599 W. Center St., Elysburg, followed by a Funeral Mass at the Queen of Most Holy Rosary Church. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Beaverdale. C.J.
