Absalom was the son of Uriah and Sarah Gibson; brother of William, Martha, Mary, Garrett, Sarah, Allen P., and J. M.
The family lived at Adams, Hamilton, Indiana in 1850. In 1856 and 1860 census, they lived at Jasper Township, Carroll County, Iowa.
On April 12, 1864, Absalom married Jemima Frazier in Carroll County, Iowa. In the 1870 census, they were living at Benton, Holt County, Missouri.
In the 1880 and 1885 census records, the family was living at Greenfield, Rooks County, Kansas. Absalom's parents. lived at Medicine, Rooks County, Kansas as well as Absalom's brother, Allen and his family. Absalom and his family moved to Oregon and were listed on the 1900 census as living at Fall Creek, Lane County, Oregon; Absalom's parents were living next door to them.
Absalom and Jemima were the parents of: Sarah, Isabelle, William F., Charles (Eddie), Bertha, Delila and George.
