Jane sailed from England aboard the ship Spain with her grandparents, Charles and Peggy Ellis, her six aunts and uncles, and cousin George, arriving in New York on 25 July 1881, when she was eight years old. The family settled in Morris County, New Jersey.
On 3 April 1894 Jane married William Mitchell Sanders in Port Oram, Morris County, NJ. Their son William Charles Sanders was born 21 February 1895. Henry "Harry" P W Sanders was born in a covered wagon crossing the United States on 6 April 1899. Jane and William moved to Centerville, Silver Bow, Montana where their only daughter Mary Jane Sanders was born on 26 May 1901. Sadly little William only 6 years, 11 months, 18 days old died of diphtheria on 8 February 1902.
By 1905 William, Jane, Harry and Mary Jane were living in Wharton, NJ. Sadly William passed away on 26 March 1907 at the age of 42. William was a copper miner.
Jane married William Harry in 1908 in Wharton, New Jersey. William Harry passed away on 4 September 1917 at the age of 48. William was a iron miner.
Jane and her children continued to live in New Jersey where Mary Jane married James Patrick Knox in 1919. Jane's first grandchild, Leona Rose Knox, was born in Dover, NJ on 13 December 1920.
