Marion K. Barnes, 83, a lifelong resident of Norwich passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Norwich Rehabilitation & Nursing Center of Norwich with her family at her side.

Marion was born in Norwich on September 6, 1933 the daughter of Charles and Maplet (Dibble) Kane. She grew up in the Norwich area where she attended and graduated from the Norwich School. On May 1, 1960 in Norwich she married Clayton Barnes. She worked for over 36 years at the Cornell Co-Operative Extension in Norwich from which she retired in 1997.

Marion's family was her life, especially her grandchildren. She spent many happy times with them be it at sporting events, holiday's, birthday parties, anniversary parties, picnics a good game of cards or just a fun day outside. Traveling was always on her agenda where she and her husband enjoyed many bus trips with Mary Genung's groups. One of her most favorite places was Branson, Missouri. Throughout these trips she was always looking for adventure and truly enjoyed it when they would get stuck in the snow. She was known to speak her mind, in a good way, but if you got on her bad side, just move along.

Marion is survived by her husband Clayton, her sons Gary (Connie) Barnes and Bob (Christine) Barnes all of Norwich, her grandchildren Matt Barnes, Ashley (Greg) Kenyon, Megan Barnes and fiancé Chad Montgomery, Kaylee Barnes, Michael (Olivia) Barnes, Stephen Barnes, Mya Barnes, Jack Barnes, Donny Wood and Thomas Dickie, John Wood and fiancée Britnie Hartwell and great grandchildren Abigail, Ariya and Killian. Also surviving are her siblings Yvonne Jeffrey of Norwich, Charles (Sylvia) Kane of AZ, Tyrone (Butch) (Carolyn) Kane of Seattle, WA, Mike (Linda) Kane of No. Norwich, Arlene (Bill) Howard of Norwich and Kathleen (Richard) Swift also of Norwich. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Marion was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Bev and Albert Ray and her grandson Justin Wood.
