Maymie Wysor McGinnis Jensen, 89, of Bedford, Va., died on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at her residence.

She was born in Bland County on April 7, 1921, a daughter of the late Henry Harrison McGinnis and Bertha Maude Bruce McGinnis.

Maymie was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters; and one brother.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Albert Peter "Pete" Jensen; two daughters, Brenda Thompson and her husband, Ted, of Taylors, S.C., and Betty Jensen and her special friend, the late Red Crouch, of Lynchburg; her grandchildren, Jeremy Thompson and his wife, Melissa, Rebecca Lacy and her husband, Rob, and Lisa Wohlford and Matthew Lawrence; her greatgrandchildren, Jonas, Trent, Maddie and Hannah; her sister, Eleanor Phillips, of Clarksburg, W.Va.; a brotherin-law, Ed Mott and his wife, Priscilla; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Klick and Violet Jensen; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, Pastor Discretionary Fund, 212 E. Main Street, Bedford, Va. 24523 and Bedford Hospice, 1613 Oakwood Street, Bedford, Va. 24523. A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Main Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Les Trail and the Rev. Dr. Carl H. Douglass Jr. officiating. She will also have a Graveside Service 3 p.m. on Wednesday, at Sunrise Burial Park in Radford. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Burch-Messier Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 317 W. Main Street, Bedford, Va., 540-586-7360.
