Passed peacefully away in Bridgetown on February 7, 2016, at the age of 90. Daughter of the late Edward and Florence Rideout, (formerly of Badger, N.L.). Ena moved to St. John's in her late teens to complete her education and then on to work. She married Alex Butt in 1949, whom she met in the choir at Gower Street United Church. Together they went on to raise three children who blessed them with eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Having reared her family she decided to further her formal education. Ena completed a BA degree (honours) and received the Sister Francis d'Assisi Prize in history from Mount Saint Vincent University at age 60. She was an active member of her local church and spent many hours in local volunteer services. Ena was a talented artist who particularly enjoyed oil, pastel and watercolour painting. Her musical talents on the piano always made for a great time at social gatherings and her beautiful soprano voice was put to good use with many church choirs, most recently with Fairview United. Ena was much loved and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Alex; by infant son,-Edward and son-in-law, David Schmidt.
