BEHRMAN, RUTH THORNHILL Ruth Thornhill Behrman passed away peacefully in Birmingham, Alabama on May 2, 2012. She was preceded in death by her brother Collins Stoner, daughter Rebecca Thornhill and husband Mayes Behrman, Jr. She is survived by her brother W. Curtis Stoner, Jr., children Deborah Thornhill Thuss (Michael), John Thornhill, Jr., Susan Thornhill Copeland, grandchildren, Eric Bukley, Dawn Kendrick Smith (Bryan), Nichole Copeland-Curtis (Phillip) and Cameron Copeland and great grandchildren, Emaleigh Smith, Sarah Smith and Lily Curtis. In addition to her lifetime career as a State Employee for the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services and CEO of A.G. Holley Hospital, she was a founding member of Adopt-A-Family of Palm Beaches. For her outstanding service to this charitable organization, Ruth was nominated for "Woman of the Year" in 2001. Ruth also served as a volunteer for the mental health association, S.E. American Lung Association and a host of other organizations that worked to improve the lives of many children and families. She will be long remembered for her gentle, caring nature and will be miss by those whose many lives she impacted by her strength and generosity. Memorial services will be held for family and friends in Henagar, Alabama, the place of her birth, at Pea Ridge Cemetery on May 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
