Gustave M. Matznick, 83, of Rt. 1, Kiel, Town of Schleswig, a retired cheese
manufacturer, died Saturday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Private funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home,
Kiel and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Matznick was born Dec. 19, 1882, in the Town of Rantoul, Calumet County,
son of the late Ferdinand and Wilhelmina Liebzeit Matznick. He attended county
schools near his home. At an early age he learned the chese making trade which
he followed for 40 years.
He married the former Hulda Voigt of the Town of Meeme, at Evangelical Lutheran
Church,Hilbert, June 29, 1905. They purchased a cheese factory in the Town of
Schleswig. He spent several winters attending agricultural and dairy courses
at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He was past director and vice president
of St. Nazianz Bank and was a past member of the district school board.
The couple observed its golden wedding anniversary in June, 1955.
Survivors include his wife, a son, Ralph, of Rt. 1, Kiel; a daughter, Mrs.
Victor (Alberta) Christel, of Manitowoc; three brothers, William and Ferdinand,
of Brillion and Otto, of the Town of Schleswig; a sister, Mrs. Albert Schneider,
of Howards Grove; nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock this Monday evening.
