Mrs. Barbara Bauer (nee Yorkes), died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Haag, at Godfrey on December 27, 1916, at the age of 75 years, seven months and 25 days. The funeral services, were held at St. John's Church, on Sunday morning, from which the remains were taken to their final resting place, the Brighton Cemetery.

Barbara Yorkes was born at Kork Baden Germany May 1, 1841. At the early age of 11 years she came with her parents to the United States. They made Alton their home and in 1864 Barbara was married the late Henry Bauer. This union was blessed with eight children six of whom survive the deceased. They are: Mrs. Louis Moran, Stamwood, Wash.; Mrs. Elizabeth Adams, East St. Louis; Mrs. Emma Adams, Overland, Mo.; Mrs. Helen Haag, Godfrey, Ill.; Mr. Bauer, Brighton, Ill.; and Miss Hertha Bauer of St. Louis.
