United States Marine Lance Corporal killed in the terrorist bombing of the United States Marine barracks in Beirut Lebanon on October 23, 1983. Eddie was from Tiverton Rhode Island and enlisted in the Marines a short time after he graduated from Tiverton High School. After his enlistment he had hoped to become a Rhode Island State Trooper. He was the son of the late Edward Soares, Sr. He is survived by his mother Lorraine, and brothers Gregory, Brian, and Artie, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was excited about coming home and had only 4 days left to his tour of duty in Beirut when the barracks was bombed. He was one of the Marines killed when the barracks was bombed in Beirut. He was given a military funeral with full military honors. He is buried along side of his father in Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River, Massachusetts. Eddie was only 21 at the time of his death. A real American Hero who gave his all for our country. We must always remember our Veterans because " FREEDOM IS NOT FREE "
