He was born May 22, 1918, in Clinton, Iowa, to Frank and Lillian Thompson Allender. On July 21, 1940, he married Ardell L. Gaarde.
Survivors (and spouses) are sons, Marvin (Carol) Allender, Tustin, Calif., Frank (Carol) Allender, Cherokee, Iowa; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Hildebrandt, Clinton.
