Bess Ogden, daughter of Irving Monroe Dean and Cora Laycock Dean, was married to James Matlock Ogden, former Attorney General for the State of Indiana from 1924-1933. She attended DePauw University School of Music and was a member of the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale and a charter member of the White Cross Guild. Mrs. Ogden was also a member of Carolyn Scott Harrison Chapter of the D.A.R. and the Harmony Club. Her children were Elizabeth Alice Ogden, Mary Ann Ogden Parrish, and James Matlock Ogden, Jr.
