Arthur James Albertson was born on February 13th, 1922 in Middle River, Minnesota to Josefa Johannessen and Emil Albertson. He grew up with his older sister, Eleanor, on a farm in Middle River. Sometime around the 1930s, Arthur and his family moved to Saint Paul, Minnesota where Arthur lived until he joined the military.

Before shipping out, Arthur married a lovely woman named Mary Evelyn Rutledge. How they met and how long they knew another before marriage is unknown. The two were wed on February 28th, 1944 in Los Angeles, California. Not long after their marriage, Arthur was killed in action on June 26th, 1944. After Arthur's tragic death, his wife Mary kept the last name Albertson up until her death in 2002.
