Joseph Burson and Mary Rachel Potts

Joseph Burson, son of George and Hannah Burson, was born 12 mo. 25, 1689, near Abington, Pennsylvania. He removed with his parents to Gilbert's Manor in 1715, and was married there 8 mo. 15, 1719, to Rachel Potts, daughter of Jonas of the same place, under the auspices of Gwynedd Monthly Meeting. He acquired under his father's will and by deed of gift a large tract of land in Gilbert's Manor, which he sold in 1739, and removed to Buckingham, (Later investigation indicates that the residence of the family was in Plumstead Township, but within the jurisdiction of Buckingham Monthly Meeting.) where he resided for twelve years. On 7 mo. 2, 1751, he requested a certificate for himself, his wife, and three youngest children, Benjamin, Rachel and Deborah, to Fairfax Monthly Meeting, which was granted at the next monthly meeting.
