FORMER TIMES EDITOR DIES IN CHICAGO

Thomas C. Barnes, Contractor, Died at Home of Daughter in Chicago—Funeral Here Monday.

Thomas C. Barnes, a former prominent contractor and builder of this city, died Friday at the home of his daughter in Chicago. The remains will arrive from Chicago Monday morning at 10:30 via the Pennsylvania, and be taken direct to Wheatland Avenue M.E. church where the funeral will be held at 2:30 P.M. conducted by Rev. LeRoy Myers. Interment will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.

T. C. Barnes was a brother of the late John E., George and Harry Barnes and was prominent in church matters here as well as in the cause of Prohibition, having owned and edited the Logansport Times previous to its being taken over by C. O. Fenton. While Mr. Barnes conducted the Times it was issued from the room occupied now by the office of the City treasurer at Broadway and Third Streets. He is an uncle of James I. and Charles Barnes.

He is survived by two daughters and a son, Mrs. Grace Malone and Mrs. Cleo Weatherwax of Chicago and Jesse Barnes of South Bend.

Mr. Barnes and family for many years were residents of South Bend having removed from Logansport to that city where Mr. Barnes continued as cement contractor.

Besides his immediate family he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Scott Price of Logansport and Mrs. Anna Bronson of Marion, Ind.

Mr. Barnes had the contract for and superintended the construction of the present Wheatland Avenue M.E. Church.
