Richard Lee "Dick" Bentley, age 74 of Rock Island, died Saturday, December 24, 2005, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hodgson Funeral Home, 608 20th Street, Rock Island, IL 61201. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29 at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Dick was born on December 12, 1931 in Moline, the son of Harold W. and Ilene M. (Clark) Bentley. On September 22, 1951, he married Wanda Helen Goins in Rock Island.
He was an Army veteran, serving from 1952 to 1954. Dick was a firefighter and was a member of the Rock Island Fire Department from 22 Aug 1966 - 24 April 1987. Before that, he worked for Moline Consumers for 17 years.
He was a member of Moose Lodge #190, Rock Island, and the Rock Island Retired Firefighters' Association.
In his spare time, Dick enjoyed woodworking, building and designing all sorts of things, and working with his brother Gerald and his close friend, Tony RosaGastaldo.
