Thomas Allen Wykle, 83 of Talcott, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday January 29, 2017 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley following a long illness.

Born March 18, 1933 in Ronceverte, WV he was the son of the late Roscoe Jackson and Stella Mae Erskine Wykle.

Mr. Wykle was a self-employed carpenter and brick mason and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Rollynsburg Baptist Church at Talcott and served as a trustee at the church. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying trout fishing, hunting and especially spending time with his brothers on the farm.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wallace, Elmer and Paul Wykle.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Lavonna “Bonnie” Bennett Wykle. Two daughters, Susan Gutshall and husband Joe of Oak Hill, WV and Nedra Ward and husband David of Buchannon, WV. Two brothers, Ellery Wykle and wife Phyllis of Alderson, WV and Alfred Wykle and wife Debbie of Hinton. Two sisters, Nellie Massey of Ronceverte, WV and Juanita Wykle of Charlottesville, VA. Six grandchildren, Caleb Gutshall of Reston, VA, Jacob Gutshall of Oak Hill, Isaac Gutshall of Morgantown, WV, Abbie Golden and husband Seth and Torrie and Zachary Ward, all of Buchannon, WV. One great granddaughter, Lainey Golden and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday February 1, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Dana Stalnaker officiating. Burial will follow in Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz.
