Francis J. Sammons, Sr. "Mike" "Spike" Age 73 and a lifelong Wilmington, DE resident passed away Thursday, March 11, 2004, surrounded by his family. Mr. Sammons was a Wilmington police officer for 20 years before his retirement in 1972. Afterward, he retired from the DuPont Company after 18 years. Most recently, he worked in security at Winterthur. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Delaware Association of Police. He enjoyed family gatherings and the beach in Cape May, NJ. His parents, Forrest and Margaret (Fallers) Sammons; and his brothers, Roger, Junior and Bill Sammons, predeceased him.
