Nell was the daughter of Nellie Butler and Thomas Rodgers. She was a 1952 graduate of Ninety Six High School and received her BA in Nursing from Winthrop College, an all girls nursing school.

Nell married William Pardue who made a career in the U.S. Air Force. They had two sons as they travelled to various military locations including Bermuda, Germany, Italy and California before returning to South Carolina after his retirement in the 1970s. The couple divorced in the 1980s.

Nell had worked as a Nurse at each military location. Upon returning to South Carolina, she worked at and retired from the Kirkland Correctional Institution as Psychiatric Head Nurse. She now rests beside her brother Ray.

A PERSONAL NOTE: My wife and I met the Pardues while stationed in Germany. From the very beginning, Nell and my wife were "sisters" of the strongest bond. Although our paths often separated us, the bond was always there, a connection also felt by our children from youth through adult. Nell was a very dear friend and is truly missed.
