Janice Elaine Sasser Osborne, 73 departed this life in the loving comfort of her family to live in all eternity with our Lord on the evening of April 24, 2010. Janice is survived by her beloved husband, Happy Osborne of Georgetown, Ky; her children, Happy, Jr. and his wife Bobbi of Georgetown, Ky; John and his wife Caroline of Washington, DC; and Jill and her husband Eric Edwards of London, Ky; and her grandchildren; Madison, Meryn, Eric Gray, Alex, Cole and Lila. Her surviving family also include a brother, Dr. Gerald Sasser, Louisville; two sisters, Carole Sasser, Lexington and Ruth Sasser Dillon, Montgomery, Ohio; her nieces and nephews, Laura Sasser Netherton, Teresa Sasser Wethington, Dr. Robert Sasser, Mark Sasser, Jerry Sasser, and Dr. Douglas Dillon; and many great?nieces and great?nephews. Janice is predeceased by two brothers, Marshal Sasser Jr. and Harold Glenn Sasser and two sisters, Veda Joyce Sasser Powell and Ruby Sasser Riddle.

Born in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Esther Lewis Sasser. She spent her early years in Liberty and graduated from Georgetown College (where she fell in love with and married Happy). She taught school in Falmouth, Gallatin County, Pine Knot, Bell County, Williamstown, Woodford County, Lynch, Evarts and in Marion County, where she retired from teaching for more than 35 years. A Celebration of Janice's life will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Faith Baptist Church in Georgetown, Ky. Conducted by The Rev. Thomas Sweat. Visitation begins at 1:30p.m. and the service begins at 2:30p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Janice and Happy Osborne Scholarship Fund, c/o John Osborne 3454 Newark Street, NW, Washington, DC 20016.
