Funeral Service for Mrs. Essie Marie Barnett, 94, of Childersburg, Alabama, will be Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Childersburg Church of God. Randy Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Childersburg Church of God. She will lie instate at the Church for one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Barnett passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016. She was born on July 24, 1922 in Marble Valley of Coosa County, Alabama to William Powell Honeycutt and Rose Zillie Hosey Honeycutt. She worked for 25 years as an inspector at Beaunite Fibers in Childersburg. She was an active member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. She loved her church, attended at every opportunity, and was a welcoming member. She served as an Adult Sunday School Teacher and treasurer of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Barnett was an avid reader and read her Bible regularly. She was creative and enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, and sewing. She was a prayerful and faithful person.

She is survived by her sons, Harry Steve Barnett (Becky) of Childersburg and Joseph Dewey Barnett (Bonnie) of Warner Robbins, GA; daughter-in-law, Maxine Thweatt Barnett of Newark, DE; grandchildren, Steven Shane Barnett, Misty Michelle Anderson (Timmy), Dawn Barnett Miller, Kevin Wayne Barnett, Dana Cook Padgett (Mark), Jolean Barnett Carcillo, Stefanie Barnett; 18 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Anna Honeycutt of Sylacauga; and many “adopted” grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Franklin Barnett; son, Kenneth Franklin Barnett; her parents; grandchildren, Pamela Denise Barnett and Michelle D'Ann Barnett; sister, Myrtis Honeycutt Green; and brother, Arthur Lee Honeycutt.
