Born in Williamson Co., TN, the daughter of John and Margaret Evans Fry. Elizabeth married Robert Gilmore McQuigg on 3/10/1825 in Giles Co. They had 9 children, before they both met their untimely deaths. For the most part, the children were placed with various family members. The children: Margaret Elizabeth, John William, R. G. Jr., Abner Turner, Henry Kingston, James Knox Polk, Martin Van Buren, Sarah Lucy, and Jesse Young McQuigg. Of all the children, only Abner Turner McQuigg remained in Giles County, the rest moved on to other locations.
