OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN)

Doris Marie Stettler, 88, formerly of 528 Michigan St., died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at Bickford Cottage.

She was born on Feb. 13, 1916, in Jasper County, to Ora and Etta (Dexter) Baxter. She married William Lawrence Stettler on Aug. 29, 1943, in Wabash. He died on Aug. 6, 1993.

She, along with her husband, owned Bill's Cafe from 1951 to 1960, and she also worked at Wabash Magnetics for several years, and at Honeywell Inc. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, David (Sheila) Stettler, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Judy (Joseph) Waggoner, Wabash; three grandsons, Devin (Cindy) Stettler, Indianapolis, Chad (Paige) Stettler and Heath (Angela) Stettler, Louisville, Ky.; three great-granddaughters, Samantha Stettler and Hannah Stettler, both of Indianapolis, and Taylor Stettler, Louisville, Ky.; a great-grandson, Izek Stettler, Louisville, Ky.; one brother, Homer (Sarah) Baxter, Rochester; and one sister, Maxine McCafferty, Waco, Texas. Two brothers and one sister are deceased.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel. The Rev. Don Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Preferred memorials are to Bickford Cottage.
