Ira and Bernice operated the Main Street Nursing Home in Illinois for many years. He was later employed as a custodian at Marquette High School for a number of years.
Ira died at Alton Memorial Hospital following an illness of 3 months. At the time of his death, he was 60 years, 11 months and 2 days old.
He was survived by his wife, Bernice; 2 sons; 1 daughter; 6 grandchildren; 1 brother, Chester Kirby; and 1 sister, Hazel Coon.
Visitation was held after 4 p.m. on 08 Nov 1973 at Smith Funeral Home in Alton, Madison County, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted there at 2:30 p.m. the following afternoon.
Ira's wife, Bernice, passed away in 1998 and was buried next to him. As of November 2012, her death year had not been added to the stone they share.
Children: 2 sons, 1 daughter.
