Keep hearing a voice that says,

"Grieve Not For Me"

Remember the best times, the laughter the songs,
The good life I lived where I was strong.

Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you
Keep smiling and surely the sun will
shine through

My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest,
Remembering all now, I was truly blessed.

Continue traditions, no matter how small
Go on with your life, don't stare at the wall.

I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin
Until the day comes, when we're together again.

Cummings in Gate of Heaven Cemetery
Thank your letting me know that I should call the cemetery to get the burial location for the photo request. I was able to find out that five other family members were buried there, and I didn't have their death dates before that. I appreciate the tip!

RE: St. Paul's request
Thank you so much for your contacting the church historian. I will call him very soon. I actually have a digitized copy of James' baptismal record that I received from the Nottingham archives. I will share it with the church historian if he wants it.

Best,

Greg

Amanda Wigham (or Whigam) is definitely the daughter of Peter Bertine. I have a copy of his letters of administration that shows her as his daughter, and I also have a DAR document. I can attach them to the memorial if you'd like to see them.

Thanks for the photos of Peter, Cornelius, and Gouvernour.

Hello,

Mount Calvary is a different older cemtery, it is on the same street, Mt. Hope is across the street and Mount Calvary is right next to it

There are no new lots at Mount but New and Mt. Hope are both active. The are administered by the Boston Catholic Cemetery Association who's main office is next door along with St. Michael and Mt. Benedict. Mt. Benedict has a clerk onsite.

Glad to help out, found the Grave by coincidence. Also found one of the requested ones that didn't have a section listed and got lucky.

RE: St. Paul's request
Good Morning and thank you again.

I'm trying to link these people with my Giles family originally from Staten Island...not an easy task with the absence of certain key records like marriage records c. 1825-30. I am hoping that eventually some info will appear on line.

Best,
GB

RE: Got this from David at St Paul's
The Peter Bertine that died in 1875 is not the son of the Peter Bertine that died in 1835. He's probably a 2nd cousin. Peter Bertine that died in 1835 (54124429) has two sons, Cornelius and Governour, and two brothers, Stephen J. and James R., buried at St. Paul's. I'll send an e-mail to David Osborn to see if he can shed some light on this.

RE: Got this from David at St Paul's
Thanks for getting back to me. I suspect that all the Bertines (and Bartines) at St. Paul's are descendants of two brothers: Peter Bertine (1707-1787) and John Bertine (1712-1815). Are the graves all in one area? From the memorial numbers, it appears as though there are two sets of graves: in general, the ones beginning with "541" are descendants of John, and the ones beginning with "533" are descendants of Peter.

Thank you so very much for your efforts. I was interested in the inscription as it points to his place of birth and that of his wife. The work that you volunteers do is invaluable.

Best Regards,
GB

Hello,

I was out in New Calvary Section 4 today and in taking pictures of neighboring stones to the unmarked grave I was looking for I took one of a marker that matches everything with yours, but your memorials have only a picture of a flower for the spot.

I have uploaded, but you might want to delete the empty spot picture.
