Annie Vieregge, Leagueville?
Hi Ann,
I suppose there could be speculation about either memorial. I'm open to suggestion. If dowsing rods show an infant grave near the parents that might help verify she being in Leagueville. Are you related? I don't remember the Vieregges living at Leagueville, but my Mother said they were good people and neighbors. Thanks,
Wayne

Harriet Charlotte Ellis
She is my Great-Grandmother. She married Giles Calvin Wells. He died in 1912 in Fort Worth. I am trying to find out what happen to her after his death. She may have remarried.
Harriet was the last child of:
John T Ellis b.1798 GA and Nancy Roanne Cavender Ellis b.1801 GA
Thanks,
Cecil Smith

William Bingham Meade, Sr.
Hi Ann,

I was looking at your memorial for William Bingham Meade and was wondering where his birth and death dates come from? I am related through his daughter Elizabeth Meade who married Isaac Brewer.

Thanks,
Kristy

RE: Martha Ann Ross -- DeWitt County TX
Thanks for the response. Looks like it may be a brick wall. Here's something that's not helpful, but interesting (to me, anyway!):
In the 1870 census, she is listed as Martha Springer, married to Reny Springer, and both were listed as living with the T J Thigpens. Not too surprising. I notice that Reny is listed as a "stock driver" or cowboy. I found this impressive because my GGF Wm Thigpen (adolescent at the time) grew up to be a cowboy and I can imagine he was impressed by Reny's tales.
(I figured Martha was his older sister until I went to the 1860 census and realized she wasn't, though I suspect they all regarded her as such.)
But what REALLY got me was the census takers footnote at the bottom of the page. He noted that neither Mr. nor Mrs. Thigpen were home, that Mrs. Springer did not know where Mr. Thigpen was born. He also noted that Mr. Springer had "gone to Kansas." He was on a cattle drive!

Martha Ann Ross -- DeWitt County TX
My GGF was William H. Thigpen. Martha Ross lived in the Thigpen household as early as 1860 (US Census) and I have become intrigued by her.
You state in your story that her parents were named Byars. Why is she named Ross?
Why is she living with the Thigpens?
She was 29 when she died. Do you know what she died of?

Thanks for the memorial.

RE: Pigeon Creek Cemetery, Mingo County, WV
Thank you, Ann. I will follow up. I know what you mean about not having time now that you are retired. I don't think I have ever been so busy. Best wishes. Thanks again.
