Obituary: Smithfield - Alta Erma Larsen Allsop, 83, died June 7, 1996 at the Logan Regional Hospital. She was born in Treasureton, Idaho, on November 1, 1912, the 11th of 12 children to Hyrum C. and Kathleen S. Larsen. She was reared and educated throughout Idaho and graduated from Preston High School. She met Dewey E. Allsop at the Dansante Dance Club in Logan. They were married November 24, 1934 and made their home in Smithfield. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in September 1948.
After raising her family, Alta ran the Cafe at the Del Monte Packing Plant and worked at Woolworth, Bluebird Candy Factory, Everton's, and Jack and Leighs Grocery Store in Smithfield. She served faithfully in the LDS Church working in the Primary, MIA and Jr. Sunday School. After Dewey's death in 1976, Alta served in the Logan Temple and as the Stake Special Interest Leader. She will be remembered for excellent home making skills including cooking, quilting, crocheting and sewing.
Surviving are four children: Brude D. Allsop of River Heights; Linda A. Robinette of Brigham City; Thomas G. Allsop of Hamilton, Montana; Patty A. Fenton of Logan. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, brother Leo Larsen of Tremonton and sister Barbara Murray of Richmond.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 10, 1996 at the Smithfield 12th Ward Chapel, 189 n. 100 East at noon with Bishop James Marshall officiating. Friends may call the nelson Funeral Home at 85 S. Main in Smithfield on Sunday, June 9, from 7-9 p.m. and the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Burial will be in the Smithfield Cemetery.
