YOUNGSTOWN - Josephine Turek, 87, passed away peacefully Friday morning, Nov. 2, 2012, at Meridian Arms Living Center in Austintown.

Josephine, who was known affectionately to many as "Shorty," was born March 13, 1925 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes Podolsky, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Turek married her late husband, George Turek Sr., on Dec. 26, 1943, in Louisiana while he was serving in the U.S. Army.

Josephine was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown.

She was a devoted homemaker and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who dedicated her adult life to raising and caring for her family.

Josephine leaves five children, Joseph (Kathy) Turek of Youngstown, Cyrus "Dan" (Marilyn) Turek of Austintown, Michael (Christine) Turek of Fort Myers, Fla., Brian (Debbie) Turek of Pittsburgh, and Susan (Allan) Farsdale of Walcott, N.D.; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Josephine will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her husband, six sisters Agnes, Ethel, Madelynn, Suzanne, Viola, and Sophia, and five brothers, Eugene, Charles, Steven, George, and Michael, are deceased.

Committal services will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
