Civil War Veteran: Co. K, 97th NY Infantry.

His tombstone and death certificate both say he was born Nov. 7. However, in a pension application Wright testified under oath that his birthday was October 7th.

On 12 Apr 1866 in the Wesleyan Methodist Church, West Oxford Township, Ontario Canada Wright married Rebecca Perry, daughter of Stephen Perry, a blacksmith, and Rosina Craig. They moved (perhaps with her parents) to Sanilac County, MI before the 1870 census. In 1872 Wright purchased land in Section 33 in Marion Township, Sanilac County where they were still living when Wright died.

OBITUARY: (clipping from unknown paper)

"In the death of Wright Farnsworth, age 77 yrs. and 6 mos., Marion Twp. has lost one of its oldest citizens. Mr. Farnsworth, having lived here over a half a century, was one of the indefatigable pioneers. His first night or two in the township he had no roof over his head but the canopy of heaven. He built for himself a home in the woods and broke the virgin soil to derive therefrom his living. He earned his bread by the sweat of his brow and has served his generation by honest labor.

Not until the last years did he know sickness or pain. He was a man of robust constitution and good health, but after passing his three score years and ten his health broke, in a measure, and as the years passed he suffered much to be intensified by an accident of about 3 mos. ago when he was kicked by a horse and seriously injured and and which ultimately caused his death.

He leaves, besides his widow, Mrs. Wright Farnsworth, a son Earl and a daughter Mrs. Andrew Graham, two sisters and a brother."

Note: The surviving siblings were all half siblings. Wright's surviving (half) sisters were Caroline (m. Henry Richards; lived Marion, NY) and Anna (m. cousin John D. Farnsworth; lived Deckerville) and (half) brother Thomas (m. cousin Sarah Cordelia Farnsworth; lived Flint, MI). Actually Wright's youngest half brother Robert was also still alive in New York State.
