George C. Barker, 81, member of a pioneer Rock County (Wisconsin) family, died Wednesday evening (26 March 1958) in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he had resided since 1953.

Mr. Barker was for many years associated with Cargill Grain Co. in Minnesota and from 1907 to 1953 operated a wheat farm in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, Canada.

George Cargill Barker, son of George R. and Margaret Cargill Barker, was born in Janesville Township Oct. 12, 1876. His grandfather, Job Barker, had taken up land from the government in 1840 which became the homestead farm in Janesville Township.

George C. Barker and Alma Golling were married in Janesville Aug. 12, 1903.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Harold Golz, Sun Rise, N. J.; a granddaughter, Victoria Golz; a grandson, Geoffrey Golz; three sisters, Miss Mary R. Barker and Mrs. Arthur Aller, both of Janesville, and Mrs. Roy E. Wisner, San Antonio, Tex.

The funeral will be held in St. Petersburg and graveside services will be held on the Barker family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery at 2 p.m. Monday, The Rev. H. C. Kimmel, First Congregational Church, will officiate.
