Mrs. Arthur P. Aller, 601 E. Milwaukee St., member of a pioneer Rock County family, died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday in Mercy Hospital. The former Ella B. Barker, daughter of George R. and Margaret Cargill Barker, was born in Janesville Township where the Barker family had located in 1838. Her grandfather had a land grant from the government covering several hundred acres, 222 of which was sold to the county for the Rock County Alms House, now the Rock County Home and Hospital. Cargill Methodist Church was named for her mother's family. She was graduated from Janesville High School, attended Stanley Hall Finishing School for Girls, Minneapolis, taught a year in a rural school and was graduated from Whitewater Normal, now Whitewater State University. Miss Barker and Arthur P. Aller were married Feb. 24, 1897. At the time of their marriage, Mr. Aller was assistant superintendent of the Rock County Home of which his father, Peter Aller, was superintendent. In 1898 Mr. Aller became superintendent of the Winnebago County Home and subsequently purchasing agent for Northern Stat Hospital in Winnebago County. The couple returned to Janesville in 1909. Mr. Aller was vice president of Wisconsin Carriage Co., which became Janesville Products Co., of which he was also vice president. He died July 30, 1939. Mrs. Aller was a member of First Congregational Church, the Women's Guild, Janesville Woman's Club, Janesville Country Club, Janesville History Club and Rock County Historical Society. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Edna Betty Aller, Janesville; one son, Gordon Aller, Saugatuck, Mich.; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Roy E. Wisner, San Antonio, Tex. A daughter, Margaret, died in 1948. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Ella was buried on June 28, 1965.
