OBITUARY:
Mrs. Eliza Hutcherson An Aged Mother Gone. For several weeks past the lamp of life had been flickering in its socket, when on Tuesday morning, the 8th inst., the spirit of Grandma Hutcherson left the element of clay in which it had dwelt for nearly 76 years. Mrs. Hutcherson was born in Green County, Kentucky, January 27, 1819, and died January 8, 1895. She was first married to Saddler. There were four children born to them, three of whom are dead; the remaining one, John Saddler, still lived in Hill county. She was left a widow, and was married to Captain B.M. Hutcherson. There were four children by this marriage, two sons, Ben and James, two daughters, Mrs. Sallie Scott and Mrs. Bettie Doss. Mrs. Hutcherson was a member of the Methodist Church. She was a true and faithful wife, a devoted and affectionate mother; but we would not call her back. Nay, not if we could, for the weary feet have crossed over the `river' and there `resting under the shade of the trees,' where other loved ones await us. It was sad indeed, for those that were not present to get a last farewell. But kind friends and loved ones were there and did all that could be done. Her son, James, brought her back to her old home for internment where friends placed her by the side of her late lamented husband, who had preceded her four months. So another one of Milam County's landmarks is gone, in the golden sunset of a ripe old age, honored and respected by all.
