In the death of George Sooby which occurred at his home on O'Neil avenue Friday morning, North Wilkes-Barre lost one of its most popular young men. He worked in the Dorrance shart during the past twenty-five years and was considered one of the most expert miners in that colliery. George served on the election board of the Second District of the First Ward for many years. He was held in such high esteem that no one cared to run against him. He was a hard worked -- a consistent worker and a young man who exhibited more than passing pride in his wife and family.

His father, Peter Sooby, who survives him, is one of the best know men in Wilkes-Barre. He came to this country from Denmark when he was a young man and went to work in the Prospect shaft. he reared a large family but his favorite appeared to be George. The latter was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church.

Funeral will be held Monday afternoon with interment in Hollenback cemetery.
