Alma Eliza Waddle Holt, 87 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, November 6th, 2012 at her residence.
Alma was born on September 28th, 1925 in Poplarville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Jack and Lizzie Sears Waddle. She married Roy Holt on October 16th, 1943 and spent the next 67 years with her beloved husband, whom she lost on August 2nd, 2010. Alma was a homemaker and dedicated her life to caring for those she loved. She was a loyal, dutiful and devoted daughter, wife and mother. She found much joy in growing beautiful flowers, preparing delicious foods, being creative with her sewing and crafting skills and spending time with her family.
Alma was survived by one daughter, Jane (and Herschel) Whitis; three sons, Jack Eldon (and Vanita) Holt, John (and Kathy) Holt, and David (and Angie) Holt; eight grandchildren, Lisa (and Tom) Kay, Gina Whitis, Christopher Holt, Chris (and Jodi) Tomlinson, Jaclyn (and Jasper) Van Nes, Robyn (and Nick) Doiron, Roy T. Holt, and Stephanie Holt; twelve great-grandchildren, Holly, Maria and Julia Kay, Meghan, Paige and Hope Tomlinson, Sebastian, Haley and Harper Van Nes, Liam, Anna and Emma Doiron; one sister-in-law, Katherine Holt; one brother-in-law, Russell Holt; five special caregivers, Sherry Harrison, Betty Owens, Linda Bowers, Thelma Schocke, and Debbie Harris; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Waddle and Lizzie Waddle; her loving husband, Roy Holt; eight brothers, Charles Waddle, Lee Waddle, Loyd Waddle, Orville Waddle, Varner Waddle, Robert Waddle, Eldridge Waddle, and Carl Edward Waddle; and two sisters, Velva Waddle and Mary Whitaker.
Visitations were held on Saturday, November 10th, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 10th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Chuck Pollard officiating.
Burial followed in the Somerset City Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky.
