He was a retired coalminer and was a hydraulic maintenance man for Alcan Aluminum of Terre Haute.
He was born February 28, 1921 in Montgomery County, Indiana to the late Alonzo Gregg and Catherine Woodworth Gregg.
His wife of 56 years, Velna "Velma" Vaught Gregg whom he married June 14, 1942 died July 22, 1998.
Survivors include three sons, Larry D. Gregg of Seymour, Indiana, William J. Gregg of Terre Haute, Indiana and Steven R. Gregg of West Terre Haute, Indiana; three daughters, Thelma M. Payton of Rapid City, South Dakota, Lillie I. Harney of Rockville, Indiana and Glenda M. Davidson of Aurora, Colorado; two brothers, Richard Gregg of Bonita Springs, Florida and Benjamin Warren Gregg of Indianapolis, Indiana; three sisters, Betty L. Scott of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Rosalie M. May of North Fort Myers, Florida and Nancy Lakeness of Muncie, Indiana; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Doris Jean Gregg and Linda K. Gregg.
He was a graduate of Bellmore High School.
Services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, November 13, in Cottrell-Gooch
Funeral Home at 287 N. Main Street, Rosedale, with Pastor Jerry Bates officiating.
Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 pm Monday at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home. Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 9135 N. Meridian Street, Suite B-4, Indianapolis, IN 46209 in his memory
