Nils Hansson was born in Barseback, Sweden in 1662, the son of Hans Olufsson and Agnes Nilsdotter. Nils Hansson married Matta Hansdotter, daughter of Hans Lauritzen, at Barseback in 1689. The couple had 11 children all born in Barseback between 1690 and 1708. A bubonic plague epidemic struck Barseback in 1712, reaching the coastal village from Copenhagen. Nils Hansson, his wife Matta, and five of their children died at their residence of #5 Barseback in the epidemic between April 16 and July 1, 1712. Nils Nilsson, their second born son (1691-1772), survived the epidemic and became my 6th great-grandfather.
