wife of Russell C Winks. Norma Winks, 84 of Chillicothe, went to her heavenly home, 7:45 PM, Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012.

She was born Dec. 8, 1928 in Chillicothe, the daughter of Jesse and Jennie Routt Diehl. She was married to the late Paul Lee Winks, and the late Russel Winks.

Surviving are two sons, Paul E. (Mary) Winks, Chillicothe, and Larry (Pam) Winks, Kingston, a daughter Betsy (Richard Schultz) Jackson of Latham, a step-daughter Joyce (Jim) Wilbanks, a daughter-in-law, Anna Lee Swackhammer, extended family Ned Boggs, John and Kathy Boggs, and Betsy May, grandchildren, Danny Swackhammer, Michael Winks, Shannon Winks, Leanna Coder, Adam Winks, Thomas Jackson, Beth Jackson, step-grandchildren Matt Fout, Mike Fout, Scott Wilbanks, Michael Wilbanks, and Kimberly Wilbanks, great-grandchildren, Savannah, Mike, and Danielle Winks, Ethan Coder, Matty and Boone Fout, and Eris Winks, two sisters Esther Fisher, Chillicothe, and Dora Temple, Circleville, a brother Everrett (Vie) Diehl, Circleville, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A son, Lee Roy Swackhammer, two brothers John and Raymond Diehl, and three sisters, Ruby Fisher, Dessie and Gertrude Diehl preceded her in death.

Norma attended the Andersonville United Methodist Church for over 30 years. She loved making Easter Candy, singing in the choir, and making noodles and cookies for many occasions. She had a passion for music. Norma loved to sing gospel songs and play her harmonica and tell stories of her childhood. She loved reading her Bible and witnessing to others what God had done for her. Norma loved all her grandchildren and loved spoiling them. She took pride in God, her country, and her family. She prayed daily for the men and women who serve in the Armed Forces.

During her extended illness of cancer, she fought a long, hard battle and never gave up. She continued to praise God through her storm. Norma now sings with the Heavenly Choir, and plays her harmonica for her King.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday Nov. 10, 2012, in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Rowland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8 PM Friday. Special thanks to Westmoreland 3rd floor nurses and aides, and to Heartland Hospice PO Box400 Lucasville, OH 45648 where memorial contributions may be made.
