Cecil C. Fitzwater, 83, of Oak, died Friday, April 26, 1991, in Fredonia, Kansas. He was born July 30, 1907, in Stet, Missouri.

Funeral services were Tuesday April 30, at 10:30 a.m. at the Oak Community Church with Rev. Dale Bussinger officiating. Burial was in the Kiowa Cemetery, rural Deshler.

Survivors are five sons, Donnie of Bakersfield, California, Billie of Nodaway, Iowa, Larrie of Braymer, Missouri, Ronnie of Roswell, New Mexico, and Toby of Breckenridge, Colorado; two daughters, Lettie Weis of Braymer, Missouri and Bettie Ann Fitzwater of Tempe, Arizona; four sisters, Florence Kubicek of Davenport, Opal Kubicek of Schuyler, Lillian Jensen of Lincoln, and MaeB (sic) Milligan of Springfield, Missouri; 26 grandchildren; and 33 great grandchildren. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of the arrangements.

Cecil Cleo Vernon Fitzwater, only son of Ray R. Fitzwater and Geneva Belle (McComas) Fitzwater, was born near Stet, Missouri, in Carroll County. As an infant, the family came to Nebraska in a covered wagon. He attended school at Oak.

On May 19, 1926, he was united in marriage to Erna Alma Horst. This union was blessed with ten children.

Cecil was a farmer and in 1944 the family moved to Iowa, then in 1951 they moved back to Missouri, in 1972 to Lodlow, Missouri, in 1976 to Angus, then to Chester, back to Missouri and was in the process of moving back to Oak at the time of his death.

He enjoyed doing carpenter work, loved his chickens and built chicken houses from start, and had a bountiful garden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Erna on June 17, 1983; and three infant daughters, Janice Jane, June Wauneta and Helen Fitzwater; and a grandson, Scott Weis.

He is survived by seven children, Donnie Fitzwater and his wive Wava of Bakersfield, California, Billie Fitzwater and his wife Chlorina of Nodaway, Iowa, Lettie Weis and her husband Virgil of Braymer, Missouri, Larrie Fitzwater and his wife Gail of Braymer, Missouri, Ronnie Fitzwater and his wife Betty of Roswell, New Mexico, Toby Fitzwater and his wife Kay of Kidder Missouri, and Betty Ann Fitzwater of Tempe, Arizona; four sisters, Florence Kubicek of Davenport, Nebraska, Opal Kubicek of Schuyler, Nebraska, Lillian Jensen and her husband Al of Lincoln, Nebraska, and MaeB Milligan and her husband Dwight of Springfield, Missouri; 26 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Cecil passed away April 26, 1991, at the Fredonia Regional Hospital in Fredonia, Kansas, as a result of injuries from a car accident, at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 26 days.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 30, 1991, at 10:30 a.m. from the Oak Community Church in Oak, Nebraska, with Rev. Dale Bussinger officiating. Music was provided by James and Alfred Hanson singing "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art" with Cloma Corman as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Donnie, Billie, Larrie, Toby and Chris Fitzwater and Virgil Weis. Burial was in the Kiowa Cemetery, rural Deshler, Nebraska. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson, Nebraska, was in charge of the arrangements.
