Actor. He will be best remembered for playing the role of 'Buster' in the adventure films, "Gold: The World's Play" (1991), "Gold: The Merchants Of Venus" (1991), "Gold: The Dynamiters" (1991), "Gold: Frenchie's Gold" (1991), and "Gold: A Fistful Of Gold" (1991). He is also best remembered for playing the role of 'Max Ramsay' in 189 episodes of the popular Australian soap opera television series, "Neighbours," which aired from 1985 to 1986. His character 'Max Ramsay,' was a key character in the show's first year. Soon after the serial switched from the Seven Network to Channel Ten in early 1986, he abruptly left the show. To accommodate this loss, the new character of Max's brother Tom was hastily introduced. In the story Tom arrived to take the reins of Max's plumbing business while Max was away; behind the scenes, the scriptwriters went through the scripts replacing "Max" with "Tom", with Tom speaking the dialogue written for Max. He was born as Wayne Francis Earl Bell in Cambridge, England, to Gerard Richard Troy (1920-2006), and Susan Patricia Bell (1926-2011), on April 18, 1944. He had two-half siblings Stephen Ward Cleverly (1950-1981), and Vaughan Patrick Cleverly (1953-1981). He made his actual acting debut playing the role of 'Billy Brinkley' in the dramatic family television series, "The Sullivans," in 1976. Besides, playing the role of 'Buster' in the adventure films, "Gold: The World's Play" (1991), "Gold: The Merchants Of Venus" (1991), "Gold: The Dynamiters" (1991), "Gold: Frenchie's Gold" (1991), and "Gold: A Fistful Of Gold" (1991), his many other film credits include, "Who Killed Hannah Jane?" (1984), "Glass Babies" (1985), "Bushfire Moon" (1987), "The Gift" (1988), "Against The Innocent" (1989), "The End Of The Golden Weather" (1989), "Alexander Graham Bell: The Sound And The Silence" (1991), and "Absent Without Love" (1992). Besides, playing the role of 'Billy Brinkley' in the dramatic family television series, "The Sullivans," in 1976, and playing the role of 'Max Ramsay' in 189 episodes of the popular Australian soap opera television series, "Neighbours," which aired from 1985 to 1986, his many other television credits include, "Carson's Law," "Five Mile Creek," "Sons And Daughters," "Anzacs," "Homeward Bound," and "Rubbery Figures." His last film role was playing the 'Auctioneer' in the action-adventure fantasy film, "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys-Hercules And The Lost Kingdom" (1994). The film which was directed by Harley Cokeliss, which was written for the screen by Christian Williams, and which also starred Kevin Sorbo, Anthony Quinn, Renee O'Connor, and Robert Trebor, tells the story of Hercules who is provoked till he has no other choice then fight Gargan, a giant who had absolutely no quarrel with him- and decks the mountain of aggression easily. Then the last survivor of a group of messengers, killed off one by one by Hera, dies after imploring him to come to end her rule of terror in the 'lost city of Troy', which his father Zeus, who is once more unwilling to extend any more tangible help, discloses can only be found with the 'one true compass' last seen in the possession of queen Omphale. In his searching for her, he frees -then against her will- Deianeira, the eager victim about to be sacrificed to the river god as a virgin in the prime of her fertility to end a drought. He battles passed the 48 sons of the gate guardian and arranges to be sold at the annual slave market to the queen, who only wants him in her bed. After dealing with some protection racketeers and the devoted, happy palace slave Waylin he finally gets her late husband's compass from Omphale. He sets out on the journey with Deianeira; a sea monster swallows them but is defeated. On land, they find her father, the dying king of Troy who names her his heir, prepares an army of Trojans to reconquer the city and enter it unopposed, but then emerges an army of Heras minions, whose leader is about to sacrifice Deianeira and puts up a good fight against Hercules. His last television roles were playing 'Howard The Hat Tree,' and 'Blackjack,' in four episodes ("The Radish Cure," "The Never-Want-To-Go-To-Bedders Cure," "The Not Truthful Cure," and "The Pet Forgetters Cure"), of the children's family fantasy television show, "Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle," which originally aired in 1994. The children's television series which also starred Jean Stapleton, Paul Minifie, Dan Gilroy, and Ed Begley, Jr., featured a colorful woman who helps cure kids of improper behavior, such as telling fibs, neglecting pets, and talking back to their elders. After his death at the age of 50, he was buried in Purewa Cemetery in Meadowbank, Auckland Council, Auckland, New Zealand. He was married to Monica Dare Bell in 1986, but they later divorced. The couple had no children together.
