Vernon Stockdill died on Wednesday

The funeral was at 1 p.m., Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, for Vernon Harris Stockdill, 56, R.R. 6, Minot, who died Wednesday, Oct. 26, in a Minot Hospital. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot. Friends may call at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, until 8:30 p.m. Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Mr. Stockdill was born on May 11, 1927, at Hartland, N.D., and was reared and educated in the Hartland, Donnybrook, Carpio areas. He entered the service of the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1945, and served as an instructor in Texas. Following his discharge, he returned to North Dakota, and farmed with his father in the Carpio area, then became employed by the Ward
County Highway Department in their highway system as a road grader. For over the past 20 years he had been employed as a construction supervisor for Montana Dakota Utilities Company of Minot, a position he held at the time of his death

A member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mr. Stockdill also belonged to the Elks, the Eagles Aerie, the Loyal Order of the Moose and the American Legion.

He is survived by: one son Vernon A. Stockdill of Minot; three daughters, Mrs, James (Vikki) Christianson of Wasilla, Alaska, Miss Kristy Stockdill of Bismarck, and Miss Denise Lea Stockdill of Fargo. There are three grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, Raymond of Redwood, Calif., Percy of Berthold, Floyd of Garrison, and Lynn Stockdill of Donnybrook; there are three sisters, Mrs Henry (Elsie) Asmundson of Tagus, Mrs. Claryce Grosso of Seattle, Washington and Mrs. Joyce Lallo of Kent, Washington'
